Sometime around 2004, a guy sent us photos of his Citroën CX Prestige. The car was special because it was an extended version (+26 cm), which, however, caused complications during registration. According to the official technical tables, such a car didn’t officially exist, creating a problem with its documentation.

The owner tried to explain the situation and even suggested that the authorities call the French president, François Mitterrand, who could confirm the existence of the car. In the end, everything worked out: the officials managed to sort things out, and the Citroën was successfully registered.

The Citroën CX Prestige was the pinnacle of luxury and comfort in its time, designed for the most demanding customers. Thanks to its extended wheelbase, it offered exceptional legroom for rear passengers, making it the perfect vehicle for long journeys. The interior was fitted with premium materials, such as leather and wood, providing top-tier comfort, including air conditioning. Its hydropneumatic suspension ensured a smooth ride even on uneven roads, putting it ahead of its time. Unsurprisingly, it became a favorite among prominent figures, including French President François Mitterrand, who admired its elegant design and sophistication.
